Several injured after minibus, car collide at Vryheid’s Lust
Several persons were rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) on Saturday evening following a two-vehicle collision along the Vryheid’s Lust Public Road, East Coast Demerara (ECD).
Police preliminary reports stated that the accident involved a minibus bearing registration number BTT 8484 driven by Corwin Abrams, 48, of Helena No 1 Mahaica, ECD, and motor car PLL 2388 driven by Hemraj Persaud of Enmore, ECD.
Reports are the motor car which was proceeding south out of the Better Hope Access Road, drove onto the Vryheid’s Lust Public Road and into the path of the minibus, thus resulting in a collision.
The minibus then collided with a traffic light pole.
Several passengers who were in the minibus along with the driver received injuries about their bodies, and were assisted by public-spirited citizens and conveyed to the GPHC where they were seen and examined by a doctor who treated them and sent them away.
However, 20-year-old Xavier Jaramillo, of Helena, Mahaica, who was a passenger in the said minibus, was admitted a patient for a fractured left thigh.
The driver of the motor car along with a 21-year-old occupant were also taken to the hospital where they were treated by a doctor and sent away.
Further enquiries are ongoing.
