“Hit It For 50” school cricket

The Ministry of Education through the Department of Sport and National Sports Commission is hosting a wind ball cricket competition for primary schools across the country in observance of Education Month 2016. The ‘Hit It For 50’ Primary Schools Wind ball Cricket tournament is being done in collaboration with AL Sport & Tour Promotions.
In some results from the New Amsterdam Zone in Region Six (East Berbice/Corentyne), defending champions Edinburgh Primary Boys, fell to All Saints Primary.
Sent in to bat, All Saints 64-1 off their allotted 5 overs with Nicqual Samuels 45, Ranald Mc Lennon 10. In reply, the defending champions were restricted to 23-2 to lose by 41 runs. Samuel Eastman top scored with 15.
Meanwhile, debutants New Amsterdam Primary lost their opening game to Saint Aloysius by nine runs. Saint Aloysius batted first and made 41-2, Richard Bruce 18. New Amsterdam Primary turn in the middle were restricted to 32-0.
When the girls played, Edinburgh turned the table around on All Saints. Batting first, Edinburgh girls 43-0, Latisha Nagaswar made 23 runs, all coming in singles, Tracy Caesar 10 also in singles. All Saints were restricted to 31-1, with Ashanti Leitch 22, (2×6, 2×4) to fall 12 runs short.
In the Canje zone, Rose Hall Estate Primary Boys after winning the toss and elected to take first strike made 18-4. Delon Hendore grabed 2 wicket bowling for Sheet Anchor who hit off the required runs in one over reaching 20 without loss to win by 10 wickets.
When the girls played the table was turned with Rose Hall Estate winning by nine wickets. Sheet Anchor Primary Girls batting first in their first appearance in the tournament after an absence of more than ten years, made 20-1. Rose Hall Estate Primary Girls in reply reached their target just losing one wicket.
Meanwhile, the Central Corentyne zone was played at the Bush Lot Farm Ground. In that zone, Kildonan and Mc Gowan Primary Girls played to a tie in the only girls game possible. Both schools scored 36 off their allotted five overs.
The boys saw Yakasary Primary losing to Mc Gowan by eight wickets. Scores; Yakasary Primary batting first, 30-4, Vishwoonauth Mangru 10. Abdul Mohamed grabbed 3-7 bowling for Mc Gowan who reply with 34-2, A Mohamed top scored with 11. Alness Primary Boys lost by nine runs when they were limited to 29-2 replying to Auchlyne Boys 38-1, Dion Schuiers 14, Stephens Reddi 12 (3×4).
Kildonan beat Johanna Primary y nine wickets in a high scoring encounter. Johanna Primary batted first and got to 73-3, Parsham Singh 20 and Karamchand Bhola 18. Kildonan 74-1, Samuels Sandy 30, Randy George 29. Johanna Primary in their second game made 46-3 against Mibicuri Primary. Yashwant Gobin 16, (3×6) and Joshua Ramjeet 11. Rickie Bissoon took 2 wickets bowling for Mibicuri. In reply, Mibicuri were restricted to 43-2, Rickie Bissoon 25, Emmanuel Gaindilall 10. Karamchand Bhola picked up 2 wickets for Johanna Primary. Meanwhile, play will continue during the month in Region Six, Region Five, Region Four, Region Three, and Georgetown.
