A glimpse of the quarter-final action between defending champions Showstoppers and West Side Ballers

on Wednesday evening.
Game one saw a battle between Up Top Bosses and Jetty. Jetty were the first to get the scorecard ticking with a goal from McKay Smith in the eighth minute. A little later, Amaniki Buntin equalised with a goal in the 14th minute. It was a long wait with the scores tied, but eventually, Dellon Lanferman found the back of the net to secure Up Top Bosses’ win.
The second encounter had fans biting away at their nails as Brothers United and Bagotstown Warriors played to a deadlocked game at the end of regulation time. When they approached the penalty line, only one player out of the Brothers United camp was able to find the back of the net, resulting in their win.
The duel between ESPN and Ballers Empire had a similar fate after superb defensive tactics on the part of both teams saw to a nil-all game when the whistle went. At the penalty line, Ballers Empire secured two shots, as opposed to ESPN’s 0 for the win.
The final quarter-final game saw defending champions Showstoppers fighting for a chance to move closer to a true title defence. Coming up against West Side Ballers, this encounter seemed like it would follow the trend of the two before – going down to penalties. However, Stephon Jupiter finally made the connection that his team needed, for a goal in the 26th minute. Marvin Josiah followed up with another late goal, this time a Guinness goal, to push the score to three-nil and sealing Showstoppers’ win. The semi-final action will go down tonight at the same venue with Brothers United taking on Ballers Empire and Up Top Bosses looking to stop Showstoppers.
The eventual winner of the subdivision will pocket $500,000 while second place will walk away with half that amount. The third- and fourth-place finishers will be awarded $200,000 and $100,000 respectively.
