Singh’s 5-27 highlights ECCC/SPR Enterprise 40 Overs Cricket Tournament …Owen blasts 61*

The 2019 edition of the ECCC/SPR Enterprise 40 Overs Cricket Tournament commenced on Sunday last at several different venues across the East Coast, as Better Hope defeated Strathavon SC ‘B’, thanks to a five-wicket haul from Sachin Singh to highlight the competition.

At Strathavon, Strathavon SC ‘B’ went in to bat with the intention of posting a big total at the Enmore Community Centre Ground but fell victim to Sachin Singh who bagged five wickets. Strathavon were bowled out for a meager 69 in 13 overs as Singh tormented them with figures of 5-27. Needing 70 for victory Navin Singh composed a beautiful 49 to lead the Betterhope side over the line in 12 overs.
At Cane Grove, Buxton SC defeated Cane Grove New Generation SC by six wickets. Batting first, Cane Grove New Generation SC was restricted to 107 in 20 overs with R Zaman top scoring with 30. G Surujpaul and Clive Andries bagged three and two wickets respectively, following up his bowling performance two weeks ago. Owen Andrews showed his all-round ability when he scored an unbeaten 61 to lead Buxton SC to 110 for 4 in 12 overs.
At Fairfield, LBI SC overcame Fairfield SC by five wickets. Fairfield SC batted first and was able to compose 162 all out in 28 overs. T Charles hit 33 while Y Bishun snared 3-15. LBI then responded to the total be scoring 163-5 in 26 overs as N Dowlatram lead the innings with an unbeaten 42 not out.
At Enmore, Enmore CC Enforcers beat Paradise SC Allstars by four wickets in a rain affected game. Paradise SC All-stars were bowled out for 77 in 22 overs, taking first strike. Ranjeet Hiralall took 2-3 runs and then returned to stroke an unbeaten 23 for ECC Enforcers who finished on 78-6 in reply O Neblett claimed 2-13.
At Ogle, Strathavon SC got the better of Ogle SC Blasters by four wickets in another rain affected contest. Ogle SC Blasters were dismissed for 84 in 25 overs, batting first. C Hemraj had 3-8 and M Ronald 3-25. Chasing a revised target of 52 in 15 overs, Strathavon SC scored 52-6 in 11 overs.
Action will continue this weekend with matches at Fairfield, Enmore, Enterprise, Strathavon, Buxton, Ogle and Better Hope providing good weather prevails.
