Close to two months after 28-year-old Curtis Bengochea, also called “Buckboy”, of Eight Street, Ivan Road, Soesdyke, East Bank Demerara, was stabbed to death during a drinking spree, the Police on Tuesday issued a wanted bulletin for Norbert Sutherland, also called “Quaky”.
Police stated that the stabbing incident occurred on April 18, 2026, at Ivan Road, Soesdyke, EBD.
It was reported that the 35-year-old wanted man and the now deceased were consuming alcohol in the company of others when a heated argument broke out between them, during which the suspect allegedly armed himself with a knife and attacked Bengochea.
The situation quickly escalated, with both men ending up in a nearby drain where the confrontation continued. Persons at the scene reportedly intervened and separated the two men. However, shortly after, Bengochea was pulled from the drain with a visible stab wound to his side.
The suspect reportedly fled the scene on foot immediately after the incident and went into hiding. The injured man was rushed to the Diamond Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
It was later reported that the confrontation stemmed from a dispute involving $1000 while the group was drinking.
The Police are asking anyone with information that can lead to the arrest of Norbert Sutherland to contact them at telephone numbers 227-1611, 268-2329, 911, or the nearest Police station.
