Sonia Noel Foundation to host blood drive

Fifteen minutes of your time can save a life and it could be yours or someone else you love.
Sonia Noel Foundation, in collaboration with the National Blood Transfusion Service, will be hosting another blood drive on August 17 at NEXUS HUB Inc, at Lot 1 Wren Avenue, South Ruimveldt Gardens (right of Royal Castle from the entrance into South Ruimveldt).
The drive is expected to commence at 10:00h and end at 15:00h. Noel is very consistent with her philanthropic contributions to society and not only in her home country Guyana.
August is her birth month and the blood drive is one of the activities planned for the grand celebrations.
As such, she is encouraging persons to come out and donate a unit of blood. Every three seconds, someone needs a blood transfusion. Twenty per cent of the recipients are children – many are cancer patients, accident victims, or patients undergoing surgery.
“Let’s celebrate life and save lives together”, the fashion icon stated. There are benefits to donating blood and tremendous benefits to the donors.
“I have hosted blood drives and donated before but this year I am more passionate about it because I am more intentional about every second of my life since the death of my brother. The feeling is priceless when saving a human life,” Noel added.
She, however, thinks that persons need to be more caring, loving, and compassionate about each other since we are interdependent.
She added that the contribution to humanity can be significant by the small things people do. Her birthday celebration continues with the annual tradition of hosting a group of children from the Drop-in Centre at her home to celebrate with her.
