− Corriverton man slapped with 6-month sentence for simple larceny

Thirty-three-year-old Gregory Ellis, a labourer of Pike Street Kitty, Sophia, Greater Georgetown, was on Tuesday sentenced to 36 months’ imprisonment on three counts of break and enter and larceny.
Ellis made his appearance at the Vigilance Magistrate’s Court where the charges were read to him by Magistrate Fabayo Azore.
He pleaded guilty to the charges which were committed earlier in the month but he was only arrested on Friday last.
Meanwhile, Anthony Ward, 30, of No 78 Village, Corriverton, Berbice, was sentenced to six months in jail on a simple larceny charge. He appeared before Magistrate Alex Moore at the Springlands Magistrate’s Court.
He reportedly pleaded guilty to stealing household appliances totalling $78,100 from a 54-year-old market vendor.
