Sophia taxi driver stabbed to death during confrontation over blocked pathway

A late-night argument between two motorists at Plum Park, Sophia, Greater Georgetown, on Friday evening turned deadly after a taxi driver was allegedly stabbed to death. Dead is 36-year-old Casey Chapman of South Sophia, Greater Georgetown.
Based on reports received, the incident occurred at about 23:45h along Farmers Field, Plum Park, Sophia. Preliminary investigations revealed that Chapman was driving his motor car in the company of a female when his path was blocked by another vehicle that was travelling in the opposite direction.
Investigations revealed that both vehicles came alongside each other, and neither driver was able to pass clearly, resulting in an argument between Chapman and the other driver.

The confrontation reportedly escalated into a physical altercation. During the scuffle, the suspect, a 34-year-old painter from South Sophia, allegedly armed himself with a knife and stabbed Chapman in the middle of his chest.
Police said the blade broke during the attack and remained lodged in Chapman’s chest. Despite being critically injured, Chapman reportedly managed to drive himself to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC), where he was examined and admitted as a patient in critical condition.
However, he later succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment. The suspect was arrested at the scene and taken into custody at the Prashad Nagar Police Outpost.
He was later escorted to GPHC, where he was also treated for injuries incurred during the altercation. A brown wooden knife handle was found at the scene, which is believed to be a part of the weapon used in the attack.
Police are currently reviewing CCTV footage collected from residents in close proximity to the stabbing incident.
