South Ruimveldt man nabbed for bashing vagrant to death with stone

A 27-year-old man is now in Police custody after he allegedly bashed a vagrant to death with a rock outside the Teleperformance Building at the junction of Camp and Robb Streets, Georgetown.
The dead man has been identified only as “Curl up toe”, 45. He was killed at around 03:30h on Wednesday by the suspect, who hails from Toucan Drive, South Ruimveldt, Georgetown.
Reports are that the suspect approached the man, who was sleeping on a cardboard at the time, and dealt him several blows to his head using a rock. Shortly after, he was seen running from the scene.
Security officers from a popular security company who were performing duty at the time told investigators they saw when the man struck the vagrant and ran away.
One officer said that after the suspect left, checks were made on “Curl up toe” and he was found lying motionlessly, bleeding profusely from his head. Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) were summoned to the scene, and they pronounced him dead.
The body was subsequently taken to the Lyken Funeral Home, where it awaits proper identification and a post mortem examination.
Meanwhile, the suspect was arrested at Charlotte Street, Georgetown. CCTV footage in the area is currently being reviewed by Police. (G9)
