Twenty-year-old Inzinaan Ishak of New Area, Canefield, East Canje, is now hospitalised after he collided with a parked lorry in the village in the wee hours of Sunday.
Based on reports received, at about 04:35h, the young man was driving his motorcycle at a fast rate of speed when he lost control and slammed into the parked lorry. As a result of the collision, he reportedly fell onto the roadway and sustained severe body injuries.
He was picked up in a semi-conscious state by public-spirited citizens and taken to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital where he was treated and transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital.
He is reportedly suffering from a fractured left thigh, fractured jaw and lacerations about the body. His condition is listed as serious but stable. An investigation has been launched into the accident.
