Guyana is set to strengthen its growing Sports Tourism profile when it hosts the 2026 IMC Over-40s ODI World Cup from October 17 to November 1, 2026.
The tournament will mark the first time a Masters Cricket World Cup is being staged in the Caribbean, placing Guyana at the centre of another major international sporting event.
Minister of Culture, Youth and Sport, Hon. Charles Ramson MP, and Minister within the Ministry, Hon. Steven Jacobs MP, recently received a briefing from Chairman of Cricket West Indies Masters Association, Raj Singh, on preparations for the tournament, which is expected to attract players, officials, supporters and visitors from across the world.

Sixteen teams are expected to compete in the event. The participating sides include Australia, Canada, Colombia, England, India, Namibia, New Zealand, Pakistan, Rest of the World, Scotland, Sri Lanka, South Africa, the United States, the United Arab Emirates, Wales and the West Indies.
Matches will be played at several venues across Guyana, including the Anna Regina Stadium, Mackenzie Sports Club Ground, Albion Community Centre Ground and other approved facilities.
The staging of matches in different parts of the country is expected to spread the economic and tourism benefits of the tournament to several communities, while giving visiting teams and supporters a wider experience of Guyana.
The tournament is also expected to feature several former international cricketers. Among the names listed are Ramnaresh Sarwan, Narsingh Deonarine, Devendra Bishoo, Sewnarine Chattergoon, Lendl Simmons, Denesh Ramdin, Rayad Emrit and Jason Mohamed.
Guyana’s hosting of the 2026 edition follows successful tournaments in South Africa in 2024 and Pakistan in 2025.
