Kissoonchand closing in on Ross as jockey race heats up

Last year’s champion jockey Yovin Kissoonchand is moving one step closer towards leading jockey Colin Ross. The veteran Ross leads the points table with 13 wins this season, while Kissonchand has 10 wins with four fewer races than Ross.
Both jockeys displayed class throughout the season, and after seven meets this year, there is little to separate the dynamic duo.

Kissoonchand will be hoping to surpass Ross on Sunday September 27 at the Clash of the Big Yard at Port Mourant Turf Club.
Jockey Ronaldeo Appadu is third on the jockey list, standing with seven wins and 11 second places. Quinton Kellman has five wins this season and eight second places for his 31 starts.
Bharrat Ramnarin and Michael Semple have four wins this season, while Trinidadian jockeys Dillon Khelawan and Arvin Dhanraj have three wins each.
The feature race on September 27 at Port Mourant will have a purse of GY$2 million; it will be the Clash at the Big Yard Stakes open to all F1 and Lower horses.
There will be races for West Indian bred for two-year-old horses, native bred three-year-old maidens, JKL Maidens four-year-old and over, L Class winners, J&K Winners and H1 and Lower.
All horses will be fresh from a memorable Guyana Cup which was held last month. Port Mourant Turf Club will be a familiar battle ground for horses from Jagdeo Racing Stables and some of the horses from JS Racing Stables.
