The St Lucia Kings have announced their overseas roster for the 2026 Republic Bank Caribbean Premier League (CPL), with the franchise adding a mix of spin options, batting depth and pace for the upcoming season.
The five overseas players confirmed by the Kings on Wednesday are Afghanistan spinner Noor Ahmad, New Zealand wicketkeeper-batter Tim Seifert, Sri Lankan pair Maheesh Theekshana and Charith Asalanka, and US fast bowler Shadley van Schalkwyk.
The selections point to a clear effort by the Kings to strengthen their bowling resources while maintaining power and flexibility in the batting order. The squad includes two specialist spinners, a proven top-order batter, a left-handed batting option with leadership experience, and a pace bowler capable of operating in key phases of a T20 innings.
Noor Ahmad returns to the franchise and is expected to play an important role through the middle overs. The Afghan wrist-spinner has become a regular name in T20 leagues around the world, where he has earned a reputation for taking wickets at important stages and controlling the flow of scoring.
Seifert will also continue with the Kings after building a strong association with the franchise. The New Zealander, known for his aggressive batting and wicketkeeping, gives the team an experienced top-order option who can also adjust to different roles in the batting line-up.
Theekshana brings further strength to the spin department. The Sri Lankan off-spinner is known for his variations and control, particularly in the powerplay and at the death, and has been widely used in franchise cricket for his ability to apply pressure against different types of batters.
Asalanka adds more depth to the batting group. The Sri Lankan left-hander offers experience, composure and finishing ability, while also bringing leadership qualities to the squad.
Van Schalkwyk completes the overseas group and gives the Kings another pace option. The US quick is expected to add bounce and variety to the bowling attack, with the ability to contribute with the new ball and in the closing overs.
The St Lucia Kings will be aiming to use the overseas group to build a balanced squad as they prepare for the 2026 CPL season.
