Survival Travel Agency on Thursday handed over three tickets to the Guyana Floodlights Softball Cricket Association (GFSCA) as part of their continued partnership for the upcoming Guyana Softball Cup VII which is set for November 3 to 5.
During the brief ceremony held at the Survival Travel Agency office on Vlissingen Road, Assistant Manager of the Travel Agency Mark DeFreitas handed over the tickets for two to three local resorts; Aruwai, Arrowpoint and lake Mainstay; to the GFSCA executives.
DeFreitas during his brief remarks said that Survival who has been a part of the Guyana Softball Cup for all seven editions, was happy to lend their continued support to the event which has grown tremendously from strength to strength over the past few years.
GFSCA President Ramchand Ragbeer expressed gratitude to DeFreitas and his company for their continuous support of the tournament over the years. Ragbeer also pointed out that the support from their sponsors has made the event into a premier one which has taken softball cricket to another level both locally and internationally.
With the competition almost a week away, GFSCA Secretary and veteran softball batsman Wayne Jones pointed out that the preparations have been coming along smoothly thus far. Jones also confirmed that overseas team will be coming in the country on a daily basis leading up to the event.
He further added that he expects a massive turnout as fans have been diligently supporting the event over the past 7 years, adding that softball has been an integral part of the culture since the very first edition of the cup.
Action on this year’s Cup will commence on Friday November 3 with a series of matches played across the city with the finals being played under lights at the Demerara Cricket Club Ground (DCC).
