As the Police continue to hunt for the prime suspect in the murder of Linden taxi driver Claude DeJonge, who was stabbed to death on Thursday, a post mortem report showed that the man, formerly of Lot 915 South Amelia’s Ward Mackenzie, died from shock and haemorrhage caused by multiple incised wounds.

The post mortem was conducted by Government Pathologist Dr Nehaul Singh at the Georgetown Public Hospital on Friday. However, the suspect, Corwyn Arthur, also called ‘Cross eye’, 34, of Central Amelia’s Ward, remains on the run, but has been communicating with relatives of the woman with whom he shared a secret relationship.
The eldest son of the woman told Guyana Times that the suspect has been in communication with him and his mother via telephone, and has since confessed to committing the crime.
“We are the only two people he talking to…he told me he deh over the river (Wismar) at the back of some Wisroc,” Cleon Samuels has stated.
He recalled that the suspect informed him via telephone that he burned all his clothing on Wednesday evening prior to committing the crime. Although the young Samuels remains in shock, he is worried about his three younger siblings who had witnessed the incident. “They are traumatised,” the young man stated.
“He (the suspect) call me and he say, ‘Cleon, you know what I do?’…We left shock because this boy does come…and we does cook and enjoy we self,” Samuels said in disbelief.
Samuel further added that the suspect informed him that he was going to take his own life, but he urged him to rethink his decision. A Police source has confirmed that the suspect has not been apprehended, and that ranks in the division are searching every possible area to make sure he is caught.
DeJonge was reportedly killed in an apparent triangular love affair on Thursday morning, while in bed with his girlfriend at her Lot 1074 Cinderella City, Amelia’s Ward home.
DeJonge was found at about 00:10h lying motionless in a pool of blood next to the front door. He was clad in trousers and his body bore several stab wounds to the neck, shoulder and abdomen.
Based on information received, the now dead man had shared a common-law relationship with his girlfriend Tanya Samuels, 35, for approximately 11 years.
However, it is believed that the mother of two and the suspect, Corwyn Arthur, shared a secret relationship, and as such, he would periodically sleep over at her house.
It was reported that the relationship ended in December 2017, but Arthur would still visit Samuels’s home under the pretext of being a family friend. On Wednesday evening, the suspect reportedly visited the woman’s home, where he saw DeJonge.
At the time, the suspect was smoking marijuana, which annoyed the now dead man, who asked him to leave the premises.
An argument erupted between the two men, but the suspect left after DeJonge summoned the Police. In retaliation, the suspected later sent threatening messages to DeJonge’s phone, informing him that he would “make his life a living hell”. Instead, he stabbed the man to death during a scuffle after he entered Samuels’s premises.
