Taxi driver relieved of car, valuables by gunmen

A Diamond, East Bank Demerara (EBD) taxi driver was relieved of his motor car and other valuables by two bandits who had posed as passengers.
Twenty-five-year-old Blake Harden, who has been working with a taxi service located at Diamond, around 20:45h on Tuesday, picked up the two passengers who requested to be taken to Eccles Industrial Site.
During the journey, one of the men who sat in the back seat whipped out a gun and held up the victim, ordering him to stop the car.
He then demanded the driver hand over all his valuables along with the key of his Toyota Premio bearing registration number PTT 7735.
Harden subsequently complied. He exited the car and escaped the perpetrators by running into a nearby yard.
Regional Police Commander of Region Four B, Kurleigh Simon told Guyana Times that Police on patrol intercepted the vehicle in Timehri.
One of the perpetrators was driving the car at the time and upon seeing the Police he drove into a clump of bushes and escaped, leaving the car behind. The car was taken to the Timehri Police Station as investigations continue.
