A 28-year-old teacher of Waramuri Village, Region One (Barima Waini) was taken into custody on Saturday, after police discovered 15.4 grams of cannabis in his possession at Moruca, North West District.
According to police reports, the incident occurred around 17:30h when police ranks approached the suspect and conducted a search. During the search, a transparent plastic bag containing leaves, seeds and stems suspected to be cannabis was found in his pants pocket. The cannabis was seized, and the teacher was escorted to the Acquero Police Station and in his presence the substance was weighed and confirmed to be 15.4 grams.
Police have stated that investigations into the matter are ongoing.
