An 18-year-old labourer – one of the three youths nabbed three days ago at Leonora, West Coast Demerara (WCD) with an unlicensed firearm and matching ammunition – was on Wednesday taken before Magistrate Roschelle Liverpool.
Raheem Parshaw of Lot 203 Uitvlugt, WCD, denied that he had the .32 pistol and two live .32 rounds of ammunition in his possession on August 18, 2017, at the Leonora Public Road when he appeared at the Leonora Magistrate’s Courts.
He was remanded to prison and is scheduled to reappear in court on September 11.
Reports are on the day of his arrest, the Police while acting on information, stopped a hire car that the men were travelling in and conducted a search. It was during the search the unlicensed weapon and matching ammunition were found.
The ammunition was found in the pocket of one of the passengers of the vehicle.
As such they were all told of the offence, arrested and escorted to the Leonora Police Station where they were later charged.
