Toddler found dead with head in bucket of water

The lifeless body of 18-month-old Orinda August of Potsville, Kwakwani, Berbice River, Region 10 (Upper Demerara-Berbice), was found, with her head in a buck of water on Sunday.

The discovery was reportedly made between 17:30h and 18:10h.
Based on information received, the child was left at home in the company of her siblings – a 7-year-old male and a 15-year-old female – by her mother who went to attend a funeral.
However, the sister, Ronella Couchman, was upstairs with the now dead toddler while her brother, Tyrel Williams, was downstairs playing. He later went upstairs to join his siblings and upon doing so, he observed the 15-year-old sleeping.
As such, he went to look for his baby sister and it was then he discovered her with her head in a bucket of water. He immediately raised an alarm and pulled his sister out of the water. The child was rushed to the Kwakwani Hospital Complex where she was pronounced dead on arrival.
The Police were contacted and an investigation was launched. There were no marks of violence about the child’s body and no foul play was suspected.
In June 2020, 11-month-old Tatiana Alexander was discovered motionless in a bucket of water at her Charity New Extension Scheme, Essequibo Coast home.
It was reported that on the day in question, the toddler was left in the care of her farther as the mother went to wash clothes. The father reportedly fell asleep, leaving the young toddler unsupervised.
After the mother was finished doing the laundry, she returned home but her baby was nowhere to be seen. After searching around the home for a while, the woman made the shocking discovery.
It was reported that the toddler was apparently reaching for a cup which had fallen into the bucket of water. The child was pronounced dead on arrival at the Oscar Joseph Public Hospital.
