Traffic rank critical after collision with turning motor car at Hague

A traffic rank attached to Regional Police Division No. 3 is battling for his life after he was reportedly struck off his motorcycle by a turning motorcar along the Hague Public Road, West Coast Demerara (WCD) on Sunday. Based on reports received, the accident involved the Force’s motorcycle bearing registration number CR 6252 and a motorcar, PPP 758, driven by a 39-year-old resident of Parfaite Harmonie, West Bank Demerara (WBD). Police stated that the motorcar was parked on the northern side of the roadway but suddenly attempted to make a U-turn and instead collided with the motorcycle that was proceeding east along the public road. As a result of the collision, the traffic rank was flung over the motorcar and fell onto the road surface, where he sustained injuries to his body.

He was picked up by public-spirited persons in a conscious condition and taken to the Leonora Cottage Hospital, where he was treated and later transferred to the De Kinderen Regional Hospital for further medical attention. A Breathalyser test conducted on the driver of the motorcar showed no traces of alcohol in his system, but he was arrested and is assisting with investigations.
