Transport, DCC clash for direct spot in Under-17 final

The battle for a place in the final of the Eline Security Logistics Under-17 50-Over tournament will in-tensify this weekend when Transport Sports Club faces Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) in a crucial pre-liminary-round encounter on Saturday at the Transport ground from 09:30h.
The fixture carries major significance, with the winner securing a direct berth in the championship final. Both teams will therefore enter the contest knowing that victory would eliminate the need for them to negotiate the playoff route.
The loser, however, will not see their title hopes come to an end. Instead, they will await the outcome of Sunday’s Eliminator between Georgetown Cricket XI (GT XI) and Malteenoes Sports Club.
Malteenoes have been confirmed as the third-place team following the completion of their preliminary-round matches and will face GT XI, who finished fourth, in the Eliminator at the Malteenoes ground from 09:30h on Sunday.

Emmanuel Lewis is the leading run scorer thus far, as he scored 336 runs in five matches

The Eliminator will provide GT XI with an opportunity to continue their campaign, while Malteenoes will be aiming to justify their position among the leading teams and advance to the next stage.
The tournament’s playoff structure means Saturday’s Transport-DCC encounter could prove decisive. The winner will advance directly to the final, while the loser will remain alive and face the winner of the Eliminator for the second spot in the championship match.
With the stakes high and a place in the final immediately at stake, the Transport-DCC clash is expected to be a keenly contested encounter, while Sunday’s Eliminator will determine which team remains in contention for the coveted title.
