Home News Trio remanded to prison for planting ganja
Three men were on Tuesday arraigned during a virtual appearance at the Linden Magistrate’s Court for cultivating marijuana at Wiruni, Upper Berbice River, Region 10 (Upper Demerara-Berbice).
Vahaley Sinclair, 19, a farmer of Wiruni; 21-year-old Reynard Gladstone of Aroaima, Upper Berbice River; and 44-year-old Tofan Shivnarine of Angoy’s Avenue, New Amsterdam, Berbice, were arrested last Wednesday for the cultivation of prohibited plants.
On Tuesday, they were charged for Cultivating Prohibited Plants committed on Public Justice laid under Section 8 (1) (a) (1) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substance Control Act 10:10.
They appeared via Zoom before Magistrate Wanda Fortune during which they pleaded not guilty and were remanded to prison until April 16, 2021.
The matter was transferred to the Kwakwani Magistrate’s Court.
