Trophy Stall on board Kennard Memorial Boxing Day Horse Meet

The much-anticipated Kennard Memorial Turf Club Boxing Day Horse Race Meet will be held on Thursday, December 26 at the Club’s facility at Bush Lot Farm, Corentyne, Berbice.

Trophy Stall has joined the list of sponsors by donating the Champion Jockey Trophy.
In a release, proprietor of this generous trophy business, Ramesh Sunich, said, “I am really happy to be onboard of this exclusive event. It is something I always do every year, as far as I can remember. The reason I (do) this is because of my dad, Neville Sunich, who was a jockey in Guyana, hence I decided that it was the best move to give the trophy for the champion jockey, come Boxing Day.”
The feature event of the meet is the Metro Million Mile race, which will be contested over eight furlongs (one mile) for a winner’s purse of one million dollars. Horses placing from second to fourth would respectively earn $500,000, $250,000 and $125,000. The event is open to all horses.
The race for horses classified H & Lower will be run over seven furlongs for a winner’s purse of $250,000. The second to fourth place finishers would respectively receive $125,000, $63,000 and $32,000.
The race for 2-year-old maiden Guyana-bred horses will be competed over a distance of six furlongs for a winner’s purse of $200,000. Second to fourth place finishers would respectively earn $100,000, $50,000 and $25,000.
The J&K Lower race will be contested over seven furlongs for a winner’s purse of $200,000. Second to fourth place finishers would respectively earn $100,000, $50,000 and $25,000.
The race for animals classified ‘L Open’ will be run over five furlongs for a winner’s purse of $170,000. Second to fourth place finishers would respectively pocket $85,000, $43,000 and $22,000.
The race for horses classified `L Non-Winners’ will be run over five furlongs for a winner’s purse of $150,000. Second to fourth place finishers would respectively receive $75,000, $38,000 and $19,000.
The race for L Non-Earners would allegedly be run over a distance of four furlongs for a winner’s purse of $130,000. Second to fourth place finishers would respectively receive $65,000, $33,000 and $17,000.
All the events at this meet would be conducted under the rules of the Guyana Horse Racing Authority.
