Under-17 matches continue this weekend in Berbice

…Cotton Tree riding high after Gafur’s century

The Berbice Cricket Board’s (BCB’s) Under-17 tournament will continue this weekend across various venues in the ancient county. Fresh from a crushing victory against Paradise, Cotton Tree will now shift attention to Bush Lot United today, Saturday April 2, at Bush Lot West, Berbice.

In round one, batting first in the 40-over game against Paradise, Cotton Tree posted 331 all out, with Rashad Gafur slamming 126 which included seven sixes and ten fours. Justin Samid supported with 28, Trevis Dookharan made 22, and Bila Saffie supported with 24. Bowling for Paradise, R McDonald claimed 3 for 48 from 8 overs.

The Paradise Team scored 28 all out, with Cotton Tree pacers Arif Khan bagging 3 for 8 and Tameshwar Adin bagging 3 for 10. Cotton Tree won by 303 runs.
In upcoming fixtures, Bush Lot United will play Paradise at Paradise on Sunday April 3. The Zone B teams are Achievers A, Achievers B, and Bath. On Saturday April 2, Achievers A oppose Bath at Hopetown. On Sunday April 3, Achievers B battle Bath at Bath.
East Bank Berbice teams for Zone C features are East Bank Blazers, Guymine, and #19. On Saturday April 2, East Bank Blazers will lock horns with #19 at #19. On Sunday April 3, #19 will battle Guymine at #19.
Zone D teams are Edinburgh, Tucber Park and RH Canje. Rose Hall Canje will take on #19 at Rose Hall Canje today, April 2. On Sunday April 3, Rose Hall Canje and Tucber Park will battle at Rose Hall Canje.
Zone E teams are Rose Hall Town Bakewell A, Albion A, Albion B, and Radha Krishna Foundation. Rose Hall Town Bakewell A will battle Albion B at Jai Hind ground, and Radha Krishna and Albion A will meet at Albion today, April 2. On Sunday April 3, Rose Hall Town Bakewell A will oppose Rada Krishna at Radha Krishna. Albion A will meet Albion B at Albion on April 3.
Zone F teams are Rose Hall Town B, Skeldon, Line Path, and Port Mourant. Round One will see Rose Hall Town B vs Port Mourant at Area H at a date yet to be confirmed.
In round two, Rose Hall Town B will meet Line Path at Area H. Skeldon and Port Mourant will battle at Port Mourant.
In round three, Rose Hall Town B will play Line Path at Line Path, and Port Mourant and Skeldon will play at Port Mourant.
The quarter-finals are set for Saturday April 9, and the winner of A will come up against the runner-up of E at a venue in Zone A.
The winner of F opposes runner-up of D at Zone F venue, and the winner of D opposes winner of B at Zone D venue. The semi-finals are set for Sunday April 10, with the winner of 2 vs winner of 4, and the winner of 1 playing the winner of 3.
