Vagrant chopped to death at Leonora market

The Police are on the hunt for a vagrant who allegedly chopped another to death at the Leonora Market on Tuesday. The dead man has been identified only as a 30-year-old ‘male street dweller’.
The Police have said that the now dead man would usually be in the market, where he also sleeps. Preliminary investigations revealed that on the day in question, at about 7:10h, a resident said he was at home when he heard someone calling out to him.
As such, he went out to enquire, and his handyman indicated to him that a street dweller had been chopped in the market.
As he was reportedly heading into the market, he saw an identifiable male who frequents the market area on a daily basis, with a cutlass in his hand walking away from the scene.
The victim was picked up and taken to the West Demerara Regional Hospital (WDRH), where he succumbed while receiving medical attention.
Police confirmed that the victim was chopped to the head, hands, and shoulder.
Checks were made for the suspect, but he was not seen. Police are continuing their investigations.
