Valley Boys Over-50 team set for six-match tour of Guyana

Trinidad and Tobago’s Valley Boys Sports and Cultural Club will send its Over-50 cricket team to Guyana for a six-match friendly tour from August 22 to 29.
Valley Boys, one of Trinidad and Tobago’s oldest community cricket institutions, is celebrating 60 years and will face several local Over-50 teams during its visit.
The tour will begin on Saturday, August 22, with a T20 match against Everest Masters from noon. Former Trinidad and Tobago senior off-spinner Mukesh Persaud will captain the visiting side, while Everest Masters will be led by Sahadeo Hardaiow.
Hardaiow, a former Essequibo junior and senior all-rounder, is regarded as one of Guyana’s leading Over-50 batsmen. Former Berbice inter-county player Luke Latif will also feature in the opening match as a member of the touring team.
Live entertainment will follow the encounter, with the Caribbean Hot Shots Band scheduled to perform. Trophy Stall, Blue Spring Water and Readymix Concrete Limited are sponsoring the tour opener.
Valley Boys will then face Parika Defenders at Parika on Sunday, August 23, before meeting Enterprise Sports Club at Enterprise on Tuesday, August 25.
The visitors will play Windsor Forest at Windsor Forest on Wednesday, August 26, and Canal No. 1 at Canal on Friday, August 28.
The tour will conclude on Saturday, August 29, with a match against an Essequibo select team at Anna Regina.
