Wakenaam Combine Trounce Bartica by 86 runs

A collective all-round display steered Wakenaam Combine to an 86-run victory over Bartica in the ongoing Guyana Cricket Board-endorsed Secondary School’s Tournament.
The Good Success Ground saw eventual winners, Wakenaam, winning the toss, taking first strike, and racking up 209 all out off just 25 of their allotted 50 overs. Sachin Dindiyay led the way with a top-score of 52, while Ricky Persaud stroked 41 and Fitzroy Retimiah 40, all in good support.

Hamel Lamb slammed a half-century and bagged three wickets in vain for Bartica

Bowling for Bartica, Hamel Lamb was the star with 3 for 41, while Tevon Mc Pherson bagged a useful 3-54 for Bartica, whose reply was a nerve-wracking task. Clearly unsettled, the Bartica batsmen crumbled for 123 off 18 of their allotted 50 overs.
Again, it was Lamb who came to the rescue, as he was the only batsman to display a high level of resistance with a solid counter-knock of 56. Mc Pherson chipped in with 18.
Bowling for Wakenaam, Ricky Persaud stormed the line-up with 5 for 31, and Ryan Atkinson followed suit with 2 for 12.
The 2017/2018 GCB School’s tourney is sponsored by the Demerara Mutual Life Assurance Society Limited (DMLAS) and endorsed by the National Sport Commission (NSC).
