WCB man found dead in coconut field drowned – autopsy

A post-mortem performed on the body of 64-year-old Clive Skeete who was found dead in a coconut field at Rising Sun, West Coast Berbice, proved that he drowned. The autopsy was performed my Dr Brijmohan at Anthony’s Funeral Parlour, Fort Wellington, and gave the cause of death as asphyxia and drowning.
Skeete also called “Bungo” of Seafield, West Coast Berbice (WCB), was found on Friday last with blood oozing from his mouth and nostrils.
Police had stated that on the day in question at about 11:30h, ranks received a report via telephone that the motionless body of a man was found in the area.
Upon receiving the report, a team of policemen visited the scene where they observed blood on the man’s mouth and nostrils. In addition, a bag of unpeeled coconuts and a metal bar was found about 30 feet from the body.
Following the discovery, the man’s body was identified by his son, Leon Skeete, who told detectives that his father was last seen alive at his home about two weeks ago. Meanwhile, his body has been handed over to relatives for burial.
