With the theme “Life does not have a reset button, Drive carefully”, the event was hosted at the Nirvana Humanitarian Centre, Kastev, Meten-Meer-Zorg, West Coast Demerara.

This year’s rally was aimed at educating students on the importance of adhering to road rules.

Over 300 children from more than 13 schools across Guyana were in attendance.

According to the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the WDRSA, Shahab Hack, it is important that the five Cs of road safety – care, caution, courtesy, consideration, and common sense – be reiterated to children.

According to Hack, it is important that schools play a more integral role in educating students on road safety drills.

“This is what our Association is striving to promote and we will be working hard in this regard.” The event was an interactive session where students were further educated by Ramona Doorgen, the GNRSC Coordinator.

Also present at the event was Public Security Minister Khemraj Ramjattan, Traffic Chief Deon Moore and the Regional Chairman of Region Three (Essequibo Islands-West Demerara), Julius Faerber.

Minister Ramjattan focused his address on the importance of each individual doing his/her part to ensure that proper road use is being carried out.
