West Ruimveldt target Massy school football glory

Following a third-place finish in last year’s Massy Distribution Under-18 School Football Tournament, West Ruimveldt Secondary School’s Head coach, Leon Bishop, is resolute in his quest for the championship this year.
“Our preparation so far has been fabulous. Over the last five matches, we have shown that we have the quality to go on and win. Being the third-place finisher last year in this tournament, we have put in some extra work this time around, so we can go on and win the title. We would not have been in this position if we had not been working hard,” Bishop remarked.
He also emphasised that apart from their dedicated training, his players were keenly focused on capturing the 2026 title.

“Last year, losing the semifinals to the eventual champions was tough. This year, the guys assured me that they will make sure we go all the way and win the title. Preparation is what we believe in, and once you prepare, you will succeed,” Bishop added.
West Ruimveldt Secondary are one step closer to their goal, pulling off a dominant victory against St Joseph High on Sunday in the quarterfinals at the Queen s College Ground. Donovan Welcome s brace led the charge in that 5-1 victory for the Back Road outfit.
Their semi-final is scheduled for Saturday at the Queen’s College Ground, where they will take on Santa Rosa Secondary in what is expected to be a thrilling encounter.
