An all-round dominant performance from the Guyana Harpy Eagles (GHE), especially their bowlers, on Day 3 saw the West Indies Four-Day defending champions sealing an early victory over the Windward Islands Volcanoes, inside three days.
Resuming Day 3 on 361-8, the Harpy Eagles bowlers piled on the runs on Tuesday, getting their team up to 491 (157.1 overs) before being bowled out.
Veerasammy Permaul was the star of the show, slamming a brilliant, unbeaten half-century while Permaul smashed nine fours and two sixes in his 82 from 150 deliveries, improving on his overnight score of 25.

On the other hand, Shamar Joseph, who had resumed with 10 runs to his name, narrowly missed out on the half-century milestone, hitting a belligerent 46 from 32 balls, punctuated by six fours and two sixes.
Even the last man, Nial Smith, proved to be not a pushover for the Windward bowlers, adding another 37 runs off 52 balls to the Harpy Eagles’ score.
As such, the defending champions were able to move their lead from 210 to 340, an imposing task for the Volcanoes.
Kenneth Dember ended the innings as the best bowler for the Volcanoes, claiming 4-113 from 40 overs.

In the second innings, the Windwards’ opening pair looked more resolute than they have the entire series, but it still did not take the Guyanese bowlers too long to find the solution.
Stephan Pascal was the first to be removed for 16 by Richie Looknauth, proving that there was something in the surface for the spinners.
With that information in hand, Gudakesh Motie and Permaul teamed up to rip through the Windwards’ batting before they could even dream of cutting down the deficit.
Motie claimed 5-51 off 12 overs while Permaul picked up 4-20 from 6.3 overs to rout the Volcanoes for 199 in 48.3 overs.
Ackeem Auguste was the best batter on the day for Windwards, but was again unlucky, not being able to get through the nervous 90s. The youngster hit 91 from 139 deliveries, inclusive of nine fours and two sixes. Kavem Hodge was next best with the bat for the Volcanoes, adding 27 from 38 balls.
As such, the Harpy Eagles wrapped up the win by an innings and 141 runs, well before close of play on Day 3.
The defending champions will now turn their attention to the third and final match in the bilateral series against the Volcanoes, scheduled to bowl off on Sunday, April 26.
