Smith credits execution, moisture in pitch after 5-wicket haul

Guyana Harpy Eagles (GHE) fast bowler Nial Smith steamed his way to a high-quality five-wicket haul in the ongoing Regional Four-Day tournament against Windward Islands Volcanoes on Sunday.
Playing at the Antigua Recreation Ground, Smith credited the moisture in the pitch for making the batsmen pay during his 5-36.
“It’s always good to get a five-wicket haul. The wicket had a lot of moisture so that helped us a lot; it was about putting the ball in the right areas and making the batsmen play as much as possible,” the Tucber Park seamer said after the opening day.

“The analyst and Coaches put together plans for us. The first game we didn’t execute as planned, but this game we executed to perfection.”
“We (the bowlers) will look to put up our feet and rest. Whenever we get to bowl again, we will look to execute the same plan,” Smith said.
In the opening round, the fast bowlers looked undercooked, but in the second round, they came prepared for the task at hand.
The fast bowlers did the bulk of the work on the opening day, with Shamar Joseph and Keemo Paul claiming two wicket each, to back up Smith’s five-wicket haul.
