The Sherwin Williams Second Division T20 Cup 2026/27 continued over the weekend with a series of exciting encounters, highlighted by a breathtaking century from Riyad Latif and a dominant all-round performance from Troy Benn.

Latif’s masterclass ends MSC’s unbeaten run
At the Transport Sports Club (TSC) Ground, TSC won the toss and opted to bowl first against Malteenoes Sports Club (MSC). MSC got off to a solid start courtesy of Adrian Hinds and Nichosie Barker. Barker played an explosive cameo of 23 from just nine balls, striking two fours and two sixes before being dismissed. Hinds anchored the innings with a composed 53 off 40 deliveries, decorated with five fours and one six. Captain Shaquille Mosely matched the effort with 53 from 45 balls, including four fours and three sixes, while Marcus Watkins added a brisk 23 from 15 balls to propel MSC to a competitive 186 for 5 in their allotted 20 overs. Latif (3 for 45) and Kevin Ross (2 for 29) were the standout bowlers for TSC. In reply, however, Latif returned to steal the spotlight with the bat. The right-hander unleashed a stunning unbeaten 118 from just 53 deliveries, hammering nine fours and an astonishing 11 sixes in a brutal display of power-hitting. He was supported by Jeremiah Hohenkirk, who chipped in with 28, and TSC raced to 187 for 1 in only 15.5 overs to seal a commanding nine-wicket victory, snapping MSC’s unbeaten streak in the tournament.

Eldorado cruise past DCC
Over at the Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) Ground, Eldorado Cricket Club emerged victorious against DCC in a well-contested clash. After winning the toss and electing to bat, Eldorado posted 175 for 8 in their 20 overs. Ntini Permaul led the charge with a rapid 46 from 20 balls, striking three fours and four sixes. Kampta Seepersaud contributed 32 from 26 balls, while Deonarine Dindyal added 27 from 17.
Jaden Dowlin was the pick of the DCC bowlers with 3 for 38, while Wavell Allen claimed 2 for 28.
Chasing 176 for victory, DCC struggled to build lasting partnerships. Lomar Seecharan scored 35 from 29 balls and Mickel Sharma added 32 from 23, but the rest of the batting faltered as they limped to 139 for 9 in 20 overs. Akeem Williams and Ricky Sargeant were instrumental with the ball, each claiming three wickets to guide Eldorado to a comfortable 36-run win.

Benn shines in Police Academy triumph
Troy Benn delivered a superb all-round performance to power Police Academy All Star to a six-wicket victory over Diplomats. Diplomats, batting first, were bowled out for 85 in 17.3 overs. Benn set the tone early with outstanding figures of 3 for 16 from his four overs. Kelvin Leitch provided excellent support with 3 for 8 from three overs, while Kerwin Amsterdam (1 for 12) and Denzel Grant-Stuart also chipped in. Rayson Gill top-scored for Diplomats with 33 from 20 balls, including three fours and two sixes, while Shemroy Griffith laboured to 24 from 47 deliveries. In response, Police Academy All Star reached 86 for 4 in 13.2 overs to secure victory. Benn capped a fine outing, with the bat, stroking an unbeaten 53 from 46 balls, striking five fours and two sixes to complete a memorable individual performance. With commanding wins and standout individual displays, the Sherwin Williams Second Division T20 Cup continues to deliver thrilling cricket action as teams jostle for supremacy in the 2026/27 campaign.
