Westside Golf Course will send an eight-member team to represent Guyana at the 2026 DSB Suriname Invitational Golf Championship

The team will compete in the men’s A-Category against golfers from Suriname, Guyana, French Guiana, and other regional territories, with hopes of challenging for the leading positions.
Guyana Golf Association (GGA) President Aleem Hussain will lead the squad alongside Vice Presidents Monnaf Arjune and Philip Haynes. They will be joined by leading national player Lakeram “Panko” Ramsundar and Guyanese-American/Canadian golfers Roy Dhori, Anwar Shaffie, Dustin Spivey, and Sabi Dhori.
Hussain said Westside was proud to represent Guyana again in Suriname and viewed the championship as an opportunity to develop both players and ties between the countries’ golfing communities.
“We see these regional exchanges as an important part of building stronger players and stronger relationships between our golfing communities,” he said.
The trip will also continue the GGA’s work with Golf Club Paramaribo and local partners to support junior golfers and beginners. That partnership includes a Junior and Beginners Drive and Chip & Putt competition, which has brought young Guyanese and Surinamese golfers together since 2023.
Hussain said the relationship between the two organisations had grown beyond tournament participation, with junior development becoming an important part of their collaboration. He also thanked Suriname Captain Sarah Chehin and the Golf Club Paramaribo Executive Committee for the invitation.
