Westside Golf Course will stage the Acado Golf Skills Tournament today from 13:00h to 15:00h, offering beginners of all ages an opportunity to learn and compete in a welcoming environment.
The skills-based competition will feature separate categories for women, men and children. Participants will compete for trophies, Acado product hampers and bragging rights, while golf clubs and balls will be provided.
A small entry fee will apply, and every registered player will receive a complimentary lunch. The event will be followed by a live viewing of the FIFA World Cup Final at the course’s restaurant and entertainment area.
The tournament forms part of the partnership between the Guyana Golf Association and Nexgen Golf Academy, which continues to introduce golf to persons of different ages and abilities through free introductory training and recreational competitions.
The organisers said the event is intended to show that golf can be accessible and affordable. Westside Golf Course, located just off the Crane Roundabout on the Schoonord Highway, is Guyana’s only public golf facility that does not require membership.
The course welcomes beginners, families, schools and visitors, allowing persons to learn and enjoy the sport without joining a private club.
The Acado Group has supported several sporting, educational and youth initiatives across Guyana, with particular attention placed on programmes that benefit women and children. Its sponsorship of the tournament continues its involvement in community and grassroots development.
