Williams represents GFF at regional football development seminar

Guyana Football Federation (GFF) Competitions Coordinator Joyann Williams joined football administrators from across the Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF) region for a two-day seminar focused on improving club licensing, league management, and professional football administration.
The 2026 CONCACAF Professional Football Development Seminar was held in Santiago de los Caballeros, Dominican Republic, from September 16–17. Organised by CONCACAF’s Professional Football Development team, it brought together club licensing managers and league directors from all 41 Member Associations.

Participants examined strategies for implementing the CONCACAF Club Licensing Regulations, including compliance timelines and benchmarking requirements. The programme also covered updates on club competitions and best practices in licensing and league operations.
Alongside those discussions, administrators received an overview of the technological tools Concacaf uses to implement, monitor and manage its processes. The seminar provided opportunities to exchange experiences and share approaches to strengthening professional football across the region.
GFF President Wayne Forde said continued training was important as the Federation expands its competition programme and works to improve administration at every level.
“With the increase in competitions being organised and coordinated by the Regional Associations through initiatives such as the Youth Ensemble Programme, the GFF recognises the importance of strengthening the capacity of regional leadership,” Forde said.
He added that the Federation would continue to provide development opportunities for those responsible for delivering competitions.
“We will therefore continue to expose more Regional Association leaders to workshops, training programmes and other development opportunities that can enhance their knowledge, build their capacity and equip them with the tools to manage and deliver these competitions in a more professional and effective manner.”
The Federation said its participation formed part of its wider efforts to improve football governance and administrative standards while building the institutional capacity needed to support the sport’s sustainable growth in Guyana.
