Young Warriors Cricket Club and West Berbice registered victories when action in the Berbice Cricket Board’s 50 Over competition continued last weekend.
At the Rose Hall Canje Welfare Center, under brilliant sunshine, the Young Warriors Cricket Club defeated the Rose Hall Canje Team by 15 runs in their match which was reduced to 36 overs due to overnight moisture.
Winning the toss and electing to bowl, Rose Hall Canje dismissed the Young Warriors Batsmen for 135 in their 36 overs. Seon Hetemyer top scored with 46 followed by Linden Austin on 30. Kasim Khan and Vishal Mohabir supported with 21 and 11 respectively while all other batsmen failed to reach double figures, including West Indies Test batsman Shimron Hetemyer who scored 8.
Bowling for Rose Hall Canje Sanjay Khan 2-17 and Amir Rahaman 2-22 claimed two wickets apiece while Compton Hope, Andrew Williams and Mark Sampson accounted for one wicket each.
In reply Rose Hall Canje were bowled out for 120 in their allotted overs.
Over at the Bush Lot Ground in West Berbice, the hosts West Berbice had the better of the Bush Lot team who they defeated by 166 runs.
West Berbice scored 253 runs, with Rafael Estriado hammering 73 runs, C. Sookra 44, Artley Bailey 30, A Dutchin 21, Stefon Adams 22 while all the others contributed with single figures.
Bowling for the Bush Lot United team, Christopher Bissoon took three wickets, G. Gossai and A. Johnson claimed two each while . J Darsan took one.
The Bush Lot United Batsmen were dismissed for a paltry 87 in their chase. Joel Dilchand was the only batsman to reach double figures before he was bowled for 14.
Bowling for West Berbice, Keith Fraser spearheaded the bowling capturing four wickets in the process and was aided by A. Bailey who bagged two wickets.
