A woman is now nursing injuries to her head after a man whom she shares a relationship with, dealt her a blow to her head with a hammer.
Reports are that the incident occurred in Lethem, Region Nine (Upper Takutu-Upper Essequibo).
According to reports, the 30-year-old woman was injured by her 30-year-old reputed husband after she returned home late from work.
Police have since said that the taxi driver injured his partner on Friday at about 20:00h, at Tabatinga, Lethem, Central Rupununi.
This newspaper was told that the woman went home from work where she and her reputed husband had a heated argument over what he claimed was her lateness.
The man then armed himself with a hammer and dealt the woman a blow to the back of her head, causing her to be injured.
The matter was subsequently reported to the Police, and an investigation was launched.
Just three days ago, a Police Constable was placed under close arrest after a report of domestic violence was made against him by his partner.
The rank was arrested in Regional Division Three (Essequibo Islands-West Demerara) after his partner went to a Police station and lodged a formal complaint of domestic violence that led to his colleagues arresting him.
He remains in custody. (G9)
