Wounding charge against City Constable dismissed

Georgetown Magistrate Faith McGusty has dismissed a wounding charge against City Constable Mark Murray after the virtual complainant, Paul John, refused to offer evidence against the defendant.
The VC told the court that the matter is very time consuming, and, as such, he does not want to proceed with same.
Murray had recently been charged for discharging a loaded firearm at the victim with intent to maim, disfigure, disable, or cause him grievous bodily harm in an incident that had occurred on September 26, 2018 at Water Street, Georgetown.
Facts presented in court had indicated that on the day of the incident, Murray had approached the VC and told him he could not park his vehicle in the area, but this had resulted in an argument and subsequent scuffle between the men, during which Murray had discharged his service weapon at the VC.
The VC told the court that the constable had shoved him, and that had led to the scuffle; and while he was walking away, the constable had discharged his firearm and the bullet had hit him in his leg.
In his first court appearance, the defendant had refuted claims made by the VC, but was nevertheless placed on $75,000 bail. The magistrate dismissed the case last Friday.
