Young Guyanese footballer Flavio Larose earns St Jago scholarship

Young Guyanese footballer Flavio Larose has secured a Sixth Form Football Scholarship to attend St Jago High School in Jamaica, where he will continue his education while competing in the prestigious ISSA Manning Cup.
Larose, a goalkeeper who is originally from Lethem, recently completed eight Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) subjects through Chase’s Academic Foundation and passed all eight. He earned a Grade One in Physical Education, and Grade Threes in English A, Electronic Document Preparation and Management, Human and Social Biology, Mathematics, Office Administration, Principles of Accounts, and Principles of Business.
The youngster relocated to Georgetown after accepting a scholarship from Chase’s in 2023, seeking greater academic and sporting opportunities. His latest scholarship represents another major step in his development.
St Jago confirmed that Larose has been invited to join its school community and is expected to represent the institution in the Inter-Secondary Schools Sports Association Manning Cup, Jamaica’s leading national Under-19 school football competition.

The scholarship will provide airfare to Kingston, school registration and administrative expenses, PTA and other related fees, along with nutritional support. It also covers medical expenses linked to injuries suffered during approved training sessions or competitions.
Larose may also receive physical, psychological, rehabilitative and developmental training and therapy under the supervision of the school’s sports programme. Assistance for other individual needs could be provided with written approval from the school’s Director of Football Operations.
Additional help may be available through the institution’s Sports Development and Mentorship Programme, subject to assessment, available resources and approval from the relevant school officials.
To remain eligible, Larose must maintain good academic standing, satisfactory attendance and punctuality, and high standards of conduct. He must also meet the expectations of the school’s athletic programme and coaching staff.
The scholarship will be reviewed at the end of each academic year, with renewal depending on his academic performance, behaviour, attendance, commitment to training and overall contribution to the programme.
Michael Richmond played an instrumental role in securing the opportunity. Richmond has also helped to create pathways to Jamaica for several other Guyanese players, including Neron Barrow, Kvist Paul, and Matrim Martin. Paul and Martin previously received opportunities at Kingston College, while Barrow later secured a move to Jamaican Premier League club Waterhouse through Richmond Management.
Founded in 1744 and located in Spanish Town, St Jago is recognised as one of the oldest continuously operating schools in the Western Hemisphere. The institution said it looks forward to supporting Larose’s continued academic, personal and athletic development.
