A Zeelugt, East Bank Essequibo (EBE) taxi driver is traumatised after his car was hijacked by three bandits, including a female, who posed as passengers.
Shameer Shafeek, who works for a taxi service at Zeelugt, EBE, got the shock of his life on Sunday at about 21:45h when he was robbed.

Shafeek said that he was at the service base when the three persons exited another car and requested that he take them to Ruby, EBE. He followed the request and transported the trio and upon arrival, one of the ‘passengers’ directed him to a house in a dark street where they wanted to disembark. He complied but as the suspects exited the car, one of the men held him at gunpoint. They then proceeded to rob him, escaping with two cellular phones, jewellery and his car, HC 7893.
When contacted, Commander of Region Three (Essequibo Islands-West Demerara), Assistant Police Commissioner Simon McBean confirmed the incident and stated that an investigation has been launched.
