150 food hampers, mattresses gifted to WBD flood-affected persons

The Central Islamic Organisation of Guyana (CIOG) has distributed 150 food hampers and mattresses to the flood-affected residents of Versailles and its environs, Belle West, Canal Number Two Polder and Patentia, Wales, West Bank Demerara (WBD).

The families affected by the recent flood received groceries, which catered for their daily needs, along with household detergents and mattresses, the CIOG said in a press release, adding that among those who benefited were the Venezuelan refugees residing at Belle West and Canal Number Two Polder; children, and the elderly.
CIOG Director of Education, Shaykh Moeen-ul Hack; Vice President Gulzar Namdar and staff of the CIOG were present at the outreaches.
The initiative by the CIOG was undertaken in collaboration with the International Development and Relief Foundation based in Toronto, Canada and the CIOG’s Canadian Support Group in Canada; Raf’s Variety Store; Caribbean Islamic Cultural Society (CICS) London, UK and Islamic Elementary School of Queens, New York; the Guyanese Diaspora in the US and Canada, and Jamaat Al Ansar of Toronto, Canada.
