2 females robbed at gunpoint in Cummings Lodge

Two women were on Thursday evening attacked and relieved of their handbags containing cash and other valuables at Cummings Lodge, Georgetown. The incident occurred at about 20:30h.

Information reaching Guyana Time revealed that Sawarie Harolall and Canisa Bownauth were visiting a relative at Cummings Lodge, and upon exiting their vehicle, a silver-coloured Toyota car pulled up and an armed bandit exited. He brandished a firearm at the women and relieved them of their handbags.

A relative, who witnessed the incident on his CCTV, armed himself with his licensed firearm and fired several rounds at the bandit, who hastily rejoined the vehicle and made good his escape.

Detectives are currently reviewing the CCTV footage in effort to identify the suspect.

No arrest has yet been made.
