GCC Head Coach Fernandes confident his teams can retain their titles

After two wins, and having topped their respective groups in the Farfan & Mendes and Woodpecker Products men’s and women’s First-Division Leagues, GCC Head Coach Phillip Fernandes is confident his teams are able to retain their titles.
In an exclusive comment made to Guyana Times Sport, Fernandes shared the following on their ability to defend their titles. “GCC has won both of their opening games so far, and I think they are looking in good enough form to win it.
“However, of course sport being what it is, it is never done until you actually complete that final match; but I think that they are poised to stand a good chance of retaining the title this year.”

Fernandes has emphasised that the greater depth of the women, with a wider selection of good players, has given the team a good chance of defending their title.
“The women are in a stronger position, as the women have greater depth; and so they have (good prospects of defending their title) while the other clubs have good players. The GCC Team has a wider selection of good players, and therefore they have a bigger team and have a strong chance of retaining the title.”
