The Guyana Football Federation (GFF) will participate in the second staging of the Confederation of North, Central American and Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF) Women’s Day initiative today, May 21 with a 5-A-side football display from various female teams in Guyana at the Wisburg Secondary School Ground, Linden.
The one-day event celebrated by the various Member Associations throughout the CONCACAF region is aimed at further promoting women’s football throughout the region. “CONCACAF has created the Women’s Football Day as a unique initiative to encourage greater participation from women of all ages in the game,” the statement from CONCACAF said. CONCACAF has a successful history with women’s football including the hosting of the last FIFA Women’s World Cup which was assessed to be the most successful ever.
A brief opening ceremony will be held before the kick-off of the fun day at 10:00hrs. The Fun day will feature 11 teams from Regions 3, 4, 6 and 10.
Admission to the venue is absolutely free and the GFF encourages everyone to go and support the female teams as part of the Women’s Football Day celebration.
