3-year-old leukaemia patient to receive overseas treatment

Three-year-old Chayanne Parboo, who was diagnosed with leukaemia in December of last year, has been accepted to receive medical treatment overseas according to local charitable organisation Saving Hands Emergency Aid (SHEA).
SHEA in a post on Monday shared that it has secured medical treatment for the child and is currently raising funds for her immediate transportation since young Parboo’s blood platelet counts continue to be critically low.

The three-year-old is hospitalised at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC), where she was required to have a bone marrow test done to diagnose her condition, but due to her low blood count, doctors were prevented from performing the test, thus placing her in the line to urgently obtain blood platelets.
The child fell ill and was admitted to the Suddie Public Hospital but was later transferred to the GPHC where doctors made the health discovery.
Young Parboo’s platelet count was recorded to be 6000 and will need at least 50,000 to conduct the test since a normal platelet count ranges from 150,000 to 450,000 platelets. But even so, the treatment the child needs is not available in Guyana.
SHEA is publicly urging persons to donate funds to transport the young child for immediate medical care.
