Junior Jags maul Monserrat 8-1 in CFU opener

Guyana’s national Under-14 boys enjoyed a dream start to their campaign in the Caribbean Football Union (CFU) Under-14 Boys’ Challenge Series on Sunday, with a massive 8-1 thumping of Monserrat in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.
Head Coach Jamal Pedro lined up Captain Dylan Kendall, goalkeeper Royston Winter, Daniel Chesney, Teon Francis, Andrew Brown, Gilbert Frank, Cavon Peters, Fabio Kowlessar, Aaron Vasconcelles, Dontay Kowlessar, and Dane Vancooten.
Guyana established their dominance early, taking a 2-1 lead at half time, with Peters and Vancooten finding the back of the net to give the young Golden Jaguars the advantage heading into the second half.
The Guyanese side shifted into another gear after the break, producing a relentless attacking display that saw them score six additional goals to complete the impressive 8-1 triumph.

The Junior Jaguars will be back in action today against Anguilla

Aaron Vasconcellos struck twice and Lujon Dos Santos once, while Wayshawn Forde delivered a hat-trick to cap a dominant team display.
The well-deserved victory provides Guyana with an important opening result as the team continue their campaign in the CFU U14 Challenge Series, following months of preparation under the Guyana Football Federation’s FIFA Talent Development Scheme (TDS).
The U14 Boys will return to action today, Monday, August 17, when they face Anguilla in their second match of the competition. Guyana will be looking to build on their strong opening performance and maintain momentum as the Challenge Series continues.
In a missive, the GFF congratulated the U14 Boys on their outstanding opening performance and striking victory over Montserrat.
“The Federation extends its best wishes to the players, technical staff, and entire team as they prepare for their next challenge against Anguilla and continue their campaign in the CFU U14 Challenge Series,” they noted.
