The much-anticipated Easter Cup horse race is set for today, April 26, at the Port Mourant Turf Club. After the inclement weather during the past month, the sun belted down on the Port Mourant track on the eve of the race.
Eight horses will be vying for the Easter Stakes, with Olympic Kremlin as the favourite for the feature showdown. JS Racing Stables will have Rei Da Brincadeira, Order and Progress, and Mapa Do Brasil, while Jumbo Jet/Master Z will have Barbra and Stat.

Ritorna Vincentori will be Olympic Kremlin’s stablemate and partner in the feature, while Frontline Warrior of Jagdeo Racing Stables will be the outsider vying for the $4 million purse, and the top horse will win $2 million.
This race day is of great importance, as it marks the second nomination day for the Guyana Cup, which is slated for August 23 at a venue to be announced.
A total of 11 races, including the jockey dash, are expected to take place.
Other races on the provisional programme include the Easter Sprint, open to all horses four years and older; the Three-Year-Old Imported; and the F Class and Lower, open to four- and five-year-old imported horses that have not raced within the last six months, as well as six-year-olds and older that have not raced for over a year.
Additionally, other races on the programme include the Three-Year-Old and Over West Indian Bred; the Open Three-Year-Old Native Bred; K/L Maiden; the H Class and Lower for West Indian-bred horses that have not won in Guyana in 2025; the Three-Year-Old and Over I/J/K Class; the Open L Class; and the Jockey Dash.
The sponsors for the grand event are Premium Asphalt, Big G Sawmill and Lumber Yard, KP Jagdeo General Contractors, OBL, Jumbo Jet, and AJM Forresters Lumber Yard and Building Supplies, among the seasoned sponsors, while Arka Supplies is the new sponsor.
