Anderson guides Rose Hall Town to victory

The Berbice Cricket Board (BCB) has completed its 12th tournament in 2018 with the Rhonda Lewis 20/20 tournament which concluded last Saturday.
Rose Hall Town (RHT) continued their winning ways in the major tournaments in Berbice with another exciting encounter at Hampshire Ground. Several supporters were present to witness some quality cricket being played between Rose Hall Town Bakewell and Whim Nationals.
The star-studded Rose Hall Town Bakewell team, batting first, racked up a daunting 199-4 in their allotted 20 overs, then dismantled Whim with the ball to win by a huge 130-run margin.
Kevlon Anderson, arguably the best youth batsman in the country, played a sparkling innings of 90, with fellow National youth batsman Kevin Sinclair scoring a blistering 68. Guyana under-15 player Jonathan Rampersaud, who was left unbeaten, chipped in with a shot filled 26.
In pursuit of the target, Rose Hall Town bowlers made a mess of the Whim batsmen, blowing them away for an embarrassing 69; with V Sookshine top-scoring with 19.
West Indies female pacer Erva Giddings swung the ball brilliantly, but maintained a disciplined line and length to end with 3 – 18; while the aggressive off-spinner Kevin Sinclair captured 2-18 and former Guyana under 19 quick bowler Sylus Tyndall picked up 2-14. Earlier that day, RHT defeated Fyrish by 65 runs in the semifinals.
At the end of the tournament, the BCB expressed gratitude to Lindon Lewis and his family for sponsoring the tournament in memory of his eldest daughter, Rhonda, who died in 2006.
