Guyanese track athletes Malachi Austin and Athaleyah Hinckson have been recognised among the top collegiate track and field performers in the United States after earning US Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-American honours following the 2026 National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Eugene, Oregon.
The honours were announced this week by the USTFCCCA, which awards First Team All-American status to athletes who finish among the top eight in their respective events at the NCAA Championships. Athletes placing between ninth and 16th receive Second Team All-American recognition.
Austin secured First Team All-American honours as a member of Louisiana State University’s men’s 4×400-metre relay team. The Guyanese quarter-miler was part of a relay squad that finished among the nation’s top eight at the championships held at Hayward Field.

Hinckson also collected First Team All-American honours after helping LSU’s women’s 4×100-metre relay team secure a top-eight finish at the national championships.
The recognition caps another successful collegiate season for both Guyanese athletes, who continue to make their mark at one of the highest levels of university athletics in the United States.
LSU enjoyed a dominant showing overall, finishing with a nation-leading 20 First Team All-American honours and 28 All-Americans in total.
Among the Tigers’ standout performers were Jaiden Reid and Shawnti Jackson, who each earned three First Team All-American honours. Reid was recognised in the men’s 100 metres, 200 metres and 4×100-metre relay, while Jackson achieved the feat in the women’s 100 metres, 200 metres and 4×100-metre relay.
